If the 'Shoe' fits

"Carrie Bradshaw had a lot of shoes, didn't she? Pair after pair of amazing heels, boots. She was a fashion icon after all!" screamed my sister. "Yes but I preferred Miranda's fashion. She was my fashion icon. Brisk and business like", my best friend retorted. Suddenly there was a pause followed by the sound of exaggerated coughing. Looking up from my "The Devil Wears Prada" copy, I see both of them staring at me.
"Well?' my sister interrogates with her eyebrows raised. "What?" I ask nonchalantly. "What do you think?", my best friend asks. "Who had better taste?"  "Both of them, I guess?" I reply weakly with a shrug. They clearly didn't look impressed. Carrie or Miranda, I don't know but at that moment they definitely resembled Samantha. Ready to explode.
I felt like Andy working for Miranda Priestly. Therefore I replied like Andy would have. Thoughtlessly and yet with spirit. "I think both were incredible. Their clothes portrayed their personalities and therefore it's hard to say which was better as they were very different. I mean, it really doesn't matter as long as the shoe fits, right?" I finished off with a smile.
They didn't look very convinced but accepted it without making a lot of fuss. "You are clearly a Charlotte", my friend quipped. No, I though to myself while smiling. I was an Andy. If the shoe fits, you wear it. Whether it's in life when you need to make decisions or when you simply need to purchase those high end fashionable stilletos. You get to decide the type of shoe that you want and if it fits you know what to do.
